Aloha, students and parents! Great news! I received a phone call inviting us to perform at Naval Station Norfolk. We are performing next Wednesday on the USS George H.W. Bush! If your daughter wants to perform and is able to be there for a 10 minute performance and be there approximately between 1 and 230 pm, please let me know. Our stage time is around the 2 pm (1400) hour.
I will see you in class this evening! ;]

I want to wish all the moms out there a very Happy Mother's Day! ;]
The performance at Fort Monroe was a success. Thanks to Trinity, Mehana, Adia, and Ema for sharing their dances with the Fort Monroe community. They loved it!
I would love for all of my students to perform so I am in the process of securing a performance at Patrick Henry Mall. Please stay tuned. Class ends the first week of June and there is a possibility that the performance will be later than that date. I will discuss this in class in the next few weeks.
Thanks and I will see everyone on Tuesday!
Aloha,
Lisa

I am currently trying to coordinate a performance opportunity for the children at a local venue, such as a local mall, at a more convenient time so more children are able to participate in a performance event. I have been an active Girl Scout leader and recruiter/organizer for the past 9 years and I know how to coordinate these events. I have the hook-ups. :] I will let you know what I find out.
Don't forget we will be having an observer from Fort Monroe come in to class next week. Parents/siblings/etc may come in to observe, too, and to take pictures or video. The children will practice and then rehearse their songs.
I hope you're practicing, girls! ;]

We had our first class last week and you all did wonderfully. We practiced 2 simple songs, danced to the Hawaiian Hokie Pokie, and learned basic dance steps. Tonight we will add more steps to He Mele No Lilo which is the Lilo and Stitch song. I encourage all my students to practice if they can.
Also, next evening we will have a special guest from Fort Monroe visit our class. I mentioned how sometimes we do special performances or interviews. Well, next week Tuesday a representative from Fort Monroe will be coming to see what we do. I will call and remind all students and their families.
I've mentioned this before and I am announcing it again....If anyone anyone is interested in performing, there will be an Asian Pacific Heritage Month observance at Fort Monroe in Hampton on May 7th with our performance slated to start at around 1230pm. Yorktown Public Schools has a half day that day. I realize the time may be inconvenient, but if it works for you and your child wants to perform, please let me know. Please confirm with me as soon as you can. Mahalo (thank you) !
A hui hou (until we meet again),
